Hi! It’s me again! Here’s my story…
From a young age…
…I’d always had an interest in stories and creativity. I’d make up fun scenarios in my head and listened raptly whenever a good story was being told. I can still remember the feeling I got after my first creative writing project at school. It was love at first word!
During my university years…
…I was hell-bent on studying writing and I couldn’t imagine a life without expressing myself through storytelling. I even transferred to one of the few schools that offered creative writing as a major for undergraduates. As a student, I took on some incredible internships, including an Editorial Internship with Refinery29 where I learned how to write for one brand voice while keeping up with the fast-paced digital landscape. I graduated from Florida State University in 2014.
As a scrappy college graduate…
…I spent my first year in the “real world,” freelancing and pitching to publications, trying to get my foot in the door. After a year, I took a job as a blogger for an online publication where I helped a major celebrity personality create fashion, wellness, and lifestyle content for her following. Within my first year, my team and I were able to increase our monthly unique visitor rate by 50%.
My next steps
I left my corporate position in February of 2019 to freelance full-time. The leap was a big one, and I had little to no idea what was to come. Luckily, I was able to stick through with my freelancing business even as the pandemic hit! Since then, I've been able to diversify my experience and find my niche in the wellness, retail, fashion, and spirituality space!
